Diversity & Inclusion/
Berlin Buzzwords provides a space to discuss storing, processing, streaming and searching large amounts of digital data, with a focus on open source software projects.
We believe we can do this best by ensuring that people taking part are valued, respected, accepted and encouraged to fully participate.
Part of ensuring a wide range of opinions can be shared at Berlin Buzzwords is ensuring that people from underrepresented groups within the #bbuzz community can attend and engage with the discussions.
Demographic Survey & Diversity Report
As part of our efforts to make Berlin Buzzwords a conference that is open, encouraging, and engaging, we will be asking speakers and attendees to take part in a demographic survey. We hope that this will help us plan better for future events and keep Berlin Buzzwords transparent and accountable to our commitments to diversity and inclusion. This data will be displayed after the event in a report. Survey responses will be anonymous, and participation is voluntary.
Feedback
We collect demographic data and feedback of speakers, attendees and volunteers of Berlin Buzzwords in our annual Demographic & Feedback Survey. Invitations to participate in our Demographic & Feedback Survey will be sent to every speaker, attendee and volunteer after the conference. Participation in the survey is completely voluntary and anonymous. You can skip most questions or decline to answer questions you don’t feel comfortable answering. There is also the option of skipping the demographic part of the survey completely.
If you want to give feedback outside of our Demographic & Feedback Survey, if you have questions or concerns about a specific aspect of Berlin Buzzwords, both general or pertaining to Diversity & Inclusion, or if you want to suggest improvements, please don’t hesitate to contact Sven at feedback@berlinbuzzwords.de.
Accessibility
We want to host a conference that is open and accessible to everyone. Therefore, we have set up a dedicated page to inform you about accessibility at Berlin Buzzwords, which you can find here.
Children at Berlin Buzzwords
You can bring your child under 16 free of charge. We will provide baby-changing facilities. Please note that we don’t offer childcare, but you can bring an additional adult accompanying the child free of charge. This person will not have access to the event programme.
You can add a ticket for your child during the purchase process.
Diversity Tickets
In order to promote this diversity at Berlin Buzzwords, we have initiated a diversity ticket program. Tickets can be added through partnerships and Diversity Fund Contributions.
What is a Diversity Ticket?
Diversity Tickets are fully sponsored (i.e. free) tickets that are available to people from underrepresented groups within the Berlin Buzzwords community. This includes, but is not limited to: women, people of colour, LGBTQIA people, disabled people, and people facing economic or social hardships. If you would like a diversity ticket, please select it from the ticket shop on this page. We will initially be providing 10 diversity tickets, with additional tickets being provided through partners and Diversity Fund Contributions. If you have any questions about eligibility for Diversity tickets, please feel free to email Paul at info@berlinbuzzwords.de
As we provide the option to purchase online-only tickets for Berlin Buzzwords, we also have Diversity Online Tickets available. This ticket is also fully sponsored (i.e. free) and provides access to our online event and is available to members of underrepresented groups within the Berlin Buzzwords community.
How can I get a Diversity Ticket?
What types of Diversity Tickets are available?
Currently, we have two types of Diversity Tickets available:
Diversity Onsite Ticket: This ticket provides access to our onsite conference and our venue, Kulturbrauerei. Get this ticket if you want to attend Berlin Buzzwords 2026 in Berlin.
Diversity Online Only Ticket: This ticket provides access to our online event for Berlin Buzzwords 2026. Get this ticket if you don’t want to travel but want to attend the conference online. Note that you won’t get access to our venue, Kulturbrauerei, with this ticket.
What is a Diversity Fund Contribution?
When you buy a Diversity Fund Contribution in our ticket shop, the proceeds are put in a pool to pay for Diversity Tickets. Diversity Fund Contributions let you use your resources to support someone who might otherwise be unable to attend. You can purchase a Diversity Fund Contribution in addition to your ticket through the main ticket shop.
How can I support the Berlin Buzzwords Diversity Ticket program?
If you work for a company that would like to support our Diversity Tickets program we would love to hear from you. All of the supporters of the Diversity Tickets program will get their logos on this page as a thank you. Please send an email to Paul at partner@berlinbuzzwords.de to discuss supporting this program.
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supports this program!
